Work Tuff Gear Kodiak -ODG-(SK85)
The island of Kodiak in Alaska is home to some of the largest brown bears in the world. The Aurora Borealis Kodiak is a bruiser with a 9.75-inch blade that can handle many tasks. My overall philosophy when designing this knife was to create the best compromise between a pure chopper and a smaller utility woods knife while not being overly large. The Kodiak is an excellent chopper and does short batoning work, yet it can still be carried on the belt easily. It remains surprisingly good at small tasks like preparing feather sticks or carving notches. The Kodiak is also great at scraping tinder or a firesteel because of its large 90-degree spine. I have used the Kodiak knife on many adventures ranging from canoe camping expeditions to winter camping at -20 degrees, and it has never let me down. Some have said that the Kodiak is an excellent tool option, and I agree with them.
Work Tuff Note: We have intended to keep the original heat treat oxidized scale on the blade with the machining mark plus a light tumbling finish to present the retro kind of blade finish. Please be aware of minor color discoloration or scratch marks on the blade.
